After reporting to his Master, Regulus had sent her a note with the family owl to be sure she would know he was dropping by after fall of dark. His mother had hit him with a distortion curse and he was still a bit woozy after it was removed. But even tripped up with that he had an order, direct order to follow. As he exited the downstairs window of the owner's apartment, Regulus took a careful look around to make sure there were no wanderers in the crescent moon's light. He had already circled the next full moon on his calender to keep track.
He fell out of the window missing the ledge and lay on the ground a moment in dizzying reaction. "Ow." He laid there about a minute before getting up on his knees to move to the back corner of the house and wand the ladder down. He caught the rung on the second try, still missing slightly in his reactions unfortunately. Once he had his feet on it (only one he managed but that was okay) he wanded again and the ladder carried him back up and over the ledge which was much easier.
Laying on the window ledge just a moment, he went ahead and slumped in through the window onto the floor breathing a bit heavily. Not wanting her to see him weak, he pulled himself up and leaned on the wall. "Made it. Rose?" The fading mark from the curse was going away but still visible on his cheek and neck, a squiggly line almost skin color now. It wasn't the first time his mother had metted out a punishment with magic on her heir, but it left him a bit off.

[googlefont=Dancing Script] Soon comes the cold, and the night that never ends.
For the first time in weeks, she was freshly showered.
Before she had just been using charms, and that left her skin dry and raw. She was clean, but god did it start to hurt after awhile. No amount of salves she created help ease the dryness after such methods.
When he had left earlier in the day, she had warded the place with the ones she knew, including a detection charm, and then left to get those supplies.
Wood, food, clothing.
She hadn't had clothing in awhile. Never really anywhere to settle and unpack her pockets.
Oh, that was another reason she was feeling so tired. The amount of her strength she had been using, carrying her items around. She had cast a noise cancelling charm on the ladder outside to help with that as well.
She felt more like her self, in her thick over sized jumper. The fire had warmed the tiny apartment and she had conjured bed things out of clothing items she didn't have a use for anymore. Pillows and a thick comforter.
She was surprised to see the owl when it arrived, obviously knowing who it was, as there was only one person who knew where she was located. She gave the bird a bit of bacon and shooed it off.
He would be...?
There was a slight buzzing in the air, alerting her that someone had come in through the window. She dashed into the main room, her eyes filling with concern at the sigh of the mark on his cheek.
Damn that Walburga!
"Reg..." she reached out a hand to hover over the cheek. It was a fading mark, but it was still there, and she could still feel a trickle of the magic in it on his skin.
She the pressed her hand to that cheek, brushing over the mark with her thumb as if wiping away the residual magic. Her hand slid down to his neck, in her aim to soothe.
"Are you okay?"

He knew he would recover, but following the Dark Lord's orders he had had to go. Things had to be done when said. Dizzy or not, memory charms and illusions and finding spells were needed and he felt a bit drained at the moment. When she ran over to him he was grateful he had not interrupted her too late into her evening. He had left word with his parents he might be several hours anyway, no idea how long the downstairs would take but it had went by with only a few mistakes.
Suspicion the Dark Lord had been expecting him to be having issues was high in his mind.
"I'll be fine, not the first time. It's just--" he slipped standing up "disorienting for a bit." He wiped the back of his hand across his forehead and stood straighter, trying to cover up the dizziness so she didn't get too worried! "Maybe I'd better sit down..."
With a little help in steering he managed to cross the room much better, though he talked trying to get away from further talk of his mother. "I thought I could help with some wards in a bit if you have the time. Wanna make sure you feel solid here though I'm sure you already have done a lot." He frowned at the wall in one spot then said slightly unsure "Detection charm on the door and back window but not the front window? Am I seeing that right?" If he'd been thinking he wouldn't have 'seen' that so easily since it wasn't something they taught at Hogwarts without a wand.
Distracted by the spell detection he didn't notice where she steered him to sit down.

[googlefont=Dancing Script] Soon comes the cold, and the night that never ends.
With a flick of her wand, the settee had changed into a very plush chez lounge which was much more appropriate to the situation. She sat down Indian style and then pulled him down in such a way that his head was in her lap. Her hands fluttered over him, fingers on his temples.
"Shh, close your eyes."
Perhaps she was more Alpha than she let on, especially with the no-argument tone she had given that command in. She was impressed that he could see the few wards she had already put up, but she could only do so much. A lot of her magic had been depleted and it would take a bit for her to recover.
"I'd love the help, but for the moment, I want you to lay here and relax."
Her lips are at his temple and then cheek is pressed against the top of his head as she brought her arms around him, pulling him towards her.
After a few moments... "have you eaten?"

When she told him to hush he did, more then a little willing to though he didn't realize his head was in her lap (he closed his eyes at the movement) till she was pulling him up again. "You might notice I'm not fighting that..." he murmured, his eyes closed again. The mark even as it disappeared ran down his neck clearly letting on it had been up his side, but anyone who knew some dark magic could see it was already nearly depleted.
It was not taught at Hogwarts naturally.
After a few minutes he had a memory flash and said very softly "Oh by the way this is 23 Wildsmith Lane if you need to floo. I found out." Quiet again. It felt nice to be held and concern spent on his behalf, something he had definitely been wanting the last few years but not knowing how to get. And some of that discomfort had driven him a bit farther along the path laid out for him, but he could hardly explain that to others.
When she started to pull him up he helped with a hand pressed down on her leg before he realized what he was doing and let off the pressure. She could surely handle it, but it wasn't very socially acceptable. "Uh...yeah at some point I did." There was a hesitation and then his eyes opened so he could see her turning his head. "Why? You need to save your money, Rose, don't waste it on me silly one."
It was then he realized he was on furniture he hadn't seen before. His eyes looked at it a second before he realized she had to have changed it for space alone. A nod to himself that she was settling in. "I didn't give you much time alone today did I? Sorry..."

[googlefont=Dancing Script] Soon comes the cold, and the night that never ends.
Part of her wanted to inspect how far that curse mark went. To investigate how far Walburgas torture went. But she clamped down on that, it seemed to be fading anyway, she was more concerned with the disorientation and the dizziness.
"Good," it was good he wasn't fighting it, she knew he wouldn't, but for some reason, she couldn't keep the authority out of her voice when she had said for him to lay down and relax.
"Oh, wonderful," she said quietly. It was hooked up to the floo. She'd be able to get to Diagon easily, to stock up easily.
When he told her not to waste her money on him, she grins. "You take care of me, I take care of you. It's how this agreement goes, right? And it worries me that you showed up so disoriented. Though I'm sure that was the nature of the curse as it was. But I feel somewhat responsible for the punishment you received today."
She arranged him into the position he had pulled her into earlier today, her arms more comfortably around his waist, a plethora of options for her to bestow affection on him, but unsure of where to start.
"I didn't want to be alone."

As he lay there, his hand lay on her leg though it didn't register personally; the entire thing turning oneself over to another was already personal and trusting, just what he had needed. When she put up resistance about the food part he opened his eyes again. "I didn't mean feeding me though, I was just talking about like...this." His eyes squinted at her slightly as if she was being purposefully dense about that part or trying to needle him somehow.
Shaking his head slowly though he responded right back. "No, don't take that as your fault. It's mine for not preparing better timing. It was foolish of me to think I could handle all that inside an hour or less. And I've had that one often enough you can't be at fault for that in the first place." Hearing his words made him want to defend his mother though and he struggled for a way to do so. "It's the way of discipline she uses though. Sirius just couldn't take it."
She slid her arms around him and it was probably obvious in his face that made him stop objecting. A deep breath in and release, his eyes closing slowly in pleasure of assaulting good memories. "I'll give you about three days before you have to stop that..." She spoke and his eyes reopened to slits, one hand covering hers the other coming up to pull her head down slightly so he could kiss her on the nose lightly. "You aren't. Even when I'm not physically here Rose you will never be alone again. My thoughts will be with you."

[googlefont=Dancing Script] Soon comes the cold, and the night that never ends.
She opened her mouth to retort and then closed it again, shaking her head.
"Right, I know what you meant. But caring for another goes so much farther than just snuggling."
She giggled lightly at him but didn't fight more on the subject. He spoke of Walburga and her way of discipline and it was obvious she wanted to fight against that too, that no good parent used curses like that to discipline. That he shouldn't just have to take it. As it really just lined up way too much with her history, as it was.
Her father, however, powerful wizard he is, resorted to more muggle ways of disciplining his children. Any snap of leather would have her trembling in fear for the rest of her life, she supposed.
"Three days before I have to stop what?" she said in a whisper, her lips brushing his cheek.
Her cheeks coloured when he kissed her nose, however, and her arms around him tightened slightly as he told her should wouldn't ever be alone again.
She was suddenly assaulted with the memories of better days when her brother still loved her. When they first started at Hogwarts, when they first befriended Sirius. Well, Remus had befriended him, Rose had just piggybacked off it. Sirius hadn't seemed to mind.
She fought hard against the want to fall apart again. Her mental defences down once more. The only obvious change in her demeanour was she had suddenly gone quiet, her breathing sounded as if she were attempting to keep it steady, and that she dropped her forehead to his shoulder and her arms tightened again.

Listening to Rose talk about how it went far beyond snuggling was interesting even though he understood there were other issues. "I get that, but we're both adults. I just have to finish a year of school so it's not entirely the same is it?" Not that he knew the mechanics yet really still being at home himself. He had a house elf however. With that thought he suddenly opened his eyes. "Oh say! I know. Kretcher." There was a sudden crack and there stood his house elf, bowing slightly.
"Master Regulus?" He introduced them. "Kretcher, this is Rose. Don't tell anyone about her or this place. No one, understand?" The older elf nodded, his head not touching the floor but not far from it! "Great! I want a snack for two. Would you bring that here for me? Say, fifteen minutes?" "What Master wants, Kretcher gets for Master Regulus!" He seemed happy to have something to do and vanished with another crack! "There. My treat."
The fact he had just showed that much power from his house totally went over his head, but he wasn't feeling his best either.
She whispered in his ear as she kissed his cheek and he smiled. She could probably feel the tension going out of him as he dreamily said "I have not felt anything like this since my nanny was let go years ago. Somehow it's way better with you." When her head touched his shoulder he realized something was up and stirred, sitting up a bit more to catch her chin. Seeing she was near tears he frowned then turned in her lap pulling her against him but still in her lap. This way her head came up nearly to his chin.
"Rose. I'm not going anywhere. Come here." He kissed her forehead and then to distract her, gave her an awkward one on her lips, not knowing you had to turn your head for the nose being in the way. "Hey you. We take care of each other. You need me you tell me. Now talk."

[googlefont=Dancing Script] Soon comes the cold, and the night that never ends.
Ah. So that was Kretcher.
She wasn't going to mention that she knew the name from Sirius. But seeing the creature the name belonged to now was... weird.
She didn't dwell on it for long. Nor the fact that he had called the house-elf, from his home, here, ordered it to not speak of her or this place, requested food and it popped off again.
Well, he was the Sole Heir now, wasn't he?
It was uncanny the chemistry and connection between them, and still, the irony wasn't lost on her here.
He was shifting in her hold, her chin caught, she was still lost in her thoughts until the light pressure against her lips yanked her out of it with force and she stared at him, eyes wide.
She hadn't set a rule for him. Not like she had with Severus. Though she told herself she would not initiate that contact with Regulus herself - had she left it open in her mind that he would be the one to initiate. Obviously not.
She was thoroughly distracted, nice job, but so much so, she didn't speak. Her fingers went to her lips, and her brain shot at her several different things.
All very much Lupin. Lupinisms, she fondly calls them. Things that go through their head when something triggers their deeply rooted lack of self-confidence causing the self-deprecation to rear its ugly head.
Something, she had pride in stamping down, thank you very much.
He was tearing through all her carefully constructed walls without much force and she felt vulnerable.
Not to mention she had already been near tears, to begin with.
It had only been what? Three days since she'd run into him in that shop? And here she was, holding him. Somewhere in her mind, she understood now why her brother was so angry at her. She was too trusting. Too idealistic.
But also there was the part in her that told her that if he was going to kill her, he would have done it already.
Wouldn't have spent whatever it was to get this flat.
"Now talk."
Oh, right, he had told her to do something. Who was submitting to who here? Was it equal submission? The tone when he said it jolted her.
She gave him a weak smile, not sure if he was going to be comfortable hearing such a thing.
"Ah, I... was just remembering... your brother said something similar to mine, once. Sirius... once... was emotional support to... my brother, and occasionally myself... in a similar fashion. But, I... never felt truly comfortable... like this, with him. He's caught me on a bad day and offered a hand of comfort, but, never, nothing like this. Still..."
She wouldn't speak of the intimacies she'd witnessed. She wouldn't speak of the jealousy that had risen within her. The envy of wanting someone of her very own.
Even if her brother fought against that very thought, thinking that no one could love him like so. He was blinded to the obviousness.
She wasn't so stupid, but the opportunities never crossed for her.
And she wouldn't dare label this situation with 'except now'.

Although privileged, Regulus had gotten used to people in Hogwarts all living with the same advantages in school except socially. It didn't occur to him that house elves could be seen as power nor as slavery as some claimed. Kretcher was the family house elf and while abused by his parents, Regulus had always liked him and treated him well. In a way he felt solidarity with Kretcher when his mother turned her wand on him even though it had little to be similar.
So in his defense, he saw Kretcher not as furniture but another in a tough situation. Regulus tried to help him out whenever he could against his parents' wishes.
So she did talk and he was glad he would hear her thoughts, but had not expected to hear about Sirius. he listened, waiting till she was finished on purpose. "If you don't mind me saying, Sirus is totally a guy's guy. While he likes girls, it takes a strong personality in one to make him respect them whereas any guy can prove himself easily. He's a little too easy going with some things. I doubt he will ever find a girl he can live with if you follow what I'm saying." And his brother had always thrown himself into guy things too; sports, joking, trouble, you name it.
Regulus took people as they were even with his judgement on the darker side. Women, surprisingly, were all strong ones in the DE and feared for their skills as much as any man. The society they fought for however did not put women in the same place and he had often thought that two-sided. "I can't really tell you why it's not the same with him. I can only explain myself. I judge people by personality first, nature, looks, and accomplishments only after I like someone. I didn't hang around you much in school because of them at first so didn't really get to judge much." he tilted his head at her, hearing his words as he said them.
"And over the last two days you have changed my mind on a lot. You really are remarkable, Rose. And to me that makes you very special indeed cause how many pretty girls in school had nasty or calculating personalities? You're worth much more then any of them." His hand touched her cheek much as she had done for him, then slid around into her hair. He had an urge to kiss her, but it was more to prove his point then to advance th-- oh Merlin. What the heck... "You know I really want to kiss you. Just because you are so beautiful, to remind you not everyone looks at things the same way."

[googlefont=Dancing Script] Soon comes the cold, and the night that never ends.
Guy's guy.
That made sense.
Oh, she followed, she followed indeed. Given what she'd seen.
It felt like she was langlocked however as her mind seemed to catch onto an underlying message in his words.
Well, it wasn't too underlying. Given that he stated it specifically.
"...only after I like someone."
But she wondered what kind of like it was. Where did she settle in his mind? Where did he settle in hers? Questions, questions, questions.
Missed opportunities. She had been so out of place in Slytherin. But she had not asked to be in Gryffindor. Which was a strange thought, because wouldn't you think she should've been? No, she had wanted to be truly sorted. It never meant she wasn't brave. It was all bollocks that you only proved to be brave by asking to be in Gryffindor. In fact, she thought she proved braver letting the hat take the wheel. She wanted to be great, she wanted to change the world.
Ah, that's probably why she was in Slytherin... there were wizards who did great things in Slytherin, some terrible, but great.
In two days, she had accomplished a great thing, she acquiesced, she wasn't sure where his mind lay when it came to the politics of the current climate. But she was sure his parents had put several things in his head.
To have them changed... well, that was a very great thing.
Her stomach fluttered, pleased with herself.
Her brain finally shut up, however, when she registered his hand sliding into her hair from her cheek.
She hadn't made a rule. But now he was asking her. She felt herself searching her eyes, she wasn't sure for what. Him to be joking? Deceit?
"Okay."
She wondered what would happen when he broke through that final wall.

In many ways Regulus was unique in the Hogwarts halls. Little social life, much social standing, tons of rather unique knowledge and skills, little experience with dating or the social niceties of romance. Most of the girls he had met in school were looking for an advantage or a cushy marriage; that had been a total turn off for him. he had not been aware of others keeping themselves between him and the 'undesirables' like werewolves as they assumed he would want to avoid them.
Having managed to get to certain books before Dumbledore had gotten them removed from the school library mixed with his private studies at home gave him a very impressive set of skills, but not in the ones that helped with everyday things. This was going to end him up either in a bad situation or a situation he simply couldn't handle and turn over to others. Or dead. At her mixed signals (he really had no idea why the tears were so necessary for girls and women both) he had tried something to knock her out of where she was headed and it had worked very well. He was not aware he had made her own thinking far more convoluted by emotional responses nor would he have understood entirely. He could only react to what he understood.
And she wasn't talking suddenly, just listening, thinking. What did that mean?
Women, a closed book in so many ways, though he really needed a decent glossary of common terms and ideas so he had a chance of following along. And when he told her he wanted to kiss her to remind her that not all guys thoughts the same she was quiet a moment and then just said 'Okay.' "Just...okay?" He shrugged, not sure how to respond to that and leaned forward his hand still in her hair. He didn't even get yet he could have pushed her head to his lips because that was too aggressive for how he was raised.
This time he didn't bump her nose which was a real accomplishment for him! He had seen a guy kissing a girl once, all open mouth. He would have described it as "slobbery looking." While she didn't seem to have minded, it didn't look like his style so he didn't open his mouth super wide like a shark. It was hesitant, though appreciative, unsure, yet not terrible. Not realizing yet how emotional a kiss could get he didn't strive for that and in that it probably wasn't so hot.
That being said, he hadn't expected it to be so wet nor complicated. He floundered a bit not knowing quite how to move his lips, but he followed her lead some and soon got the idea it was about friction (surface area coverage of JUST the lips) and not being overly aggressive trying to let her show him what she wanted. In that it was a lot lot better then many players and for that she should thank her lucky stars. "That was horrible wasn't it? I can do better. I...think."

[googlefont=Dancing Script] Soon comes the cold, and the night that never ends.
She realized she had squeaked out the word and perhaps it sounded really dispassionate, like a relenting, almost huffed 'fine, okay', like a resistant teen that didn't want to take out the trash.
But if she could give him a window into her mind, well, he would be able to see that okay was her holding back.
She didn't have a frame of reference exactly of how kisses were supposed to go, so she was on the same level as him here, unsure, uncertain. However, there was something there, she had to note as it was easy for her to respond, to guide him gently.
He was nervous, understandably so. She could probably easily take the wheel, show him, maybe. But, with a grin, as he pulled away, she knew this was a puzzle he would enjoy much more figuring out on his own.
It wasn't passionate and she could tell it was a kiss done in respect, and part of her wondered if she could change the tone of it someday. She had enjoyed it immensely anyway.
"Not as terrible as you think," she responded warmly, and it was an honest truth. Perhaps she had an idea of what a kiss might be, but put it into practice and well, things just kinda get shoved out the door. "But I am not averse to you trying again, as many tries as you'd like, really."

It was the first kiss he had ever given a female he wasn't related to and those had all been on the cheek. In that he did have a double advantage in being raised as a gentleman in that he didn't push a kiss, he thought it was supposed to be whisper light. His cousins had not told him they liked that, but they were family, right? He didn't know that no adult really wanted to see him grow up in a way; he was too cute the way he was. So yes, he had the light part down and probably wouldn't get the intense ones till someone gave him the experience. But he knew he hadn't done something right, he couldn't have. The few he had seen kissing--
Well, they had been very enthusiastic from what he could see. Still, hopefully she got she was the first ever. That counted right?
From the look on her face she must have gotten something from it as she had a smile surely only worn by foxes in the hen coop! She responded with enthusiasm and he grinned, suddenly relieved. It struck him as odd, but he had never sat on the lap of young woman talking about and initiating a relationship. At that moment the teenage instincts of any young male kicked in and he did get a glimpse downwards before his training kicked in and his eyes came right back up. Werewolves! Did they have like pheromones or something?!
"Really? I mean, you don't mind?" His face was probably flushed, he wasn't going to bring attention to it. He leaned forward again and kissed her again, this time with more success and enjoyment as both were now more enthused then before. Regulus managed this time to make much more contact and turned slightly by sheer chance discovering it added quite a lot of impression! He managed another minute before he had to break for air, his eyes very enthusiastic about what he had just experienced.
"Wow. Just wow, that was way more then I expected!" Judging her face he said "That wasn't too much was it? I mean, I don't want to go too far for us." For us. "Do you believe me now Rose?"
